Wednesday Prayers, 17 April 2024

LordWEd Pr june end God, we are grateful that we can lie down at night
and feel reasonably safe and secure.
But, because of that, we can’t forget those who have no such security,
who feel afraid that each night might be their last,
whether because of their own health
or because of the threat of bombs falling or other violence.

We pray for an end to current conflicts
and a chance for people to rebuild their lives and live in peace.
We come in silence and think of places in the world
which are on our minds at the moment:

                                     Pause

God, we know You care about those treated unjustly
and those who have always had a raw deal in life.
We pray for a more compassionate society,
for greater spiritual awareness and attention,
and for greater overall contentment. Amen.

God of all people, we pray for people of all faiths and none
who try to show love when others around them prefer to hate.
Be with them and reveal Yourself to them as their strength and hope.

We pray for those who try to negotiate peace and justice
when the dominant language is of aggression and retaliation.
May their still small voices rise above the loudmouths and be heard and acted on.

We pray for churches searching for the best ways to be the church in 2024.
Guide us and help us to tap into your vision and perspective.

We pray for organisations bringing people together in community
And we pray that Christian groups can find authentic ways
of breaking through prejudice and misinformation
so that people can find what they are looking for in You.

For all those on our minds at this time, we pray, especially this week for:
Ruth, Stuart, Margaret, Malcolm,
Anthony, Jill, Cath, Henryk
John N, Ela, James, Emily,
Ron, Bill B, Mary, Jean
Amy, Andrew, Jo, Peter,
Robert H, Evelyn, Eleanor and Walter…

We make our prayers and ask that You will hear us.
May the Holy Spirit give those we pray for strength, determination and hope
and dwell in the hearts of all who seek Your presence at this time. Amen.
